It is now 4pm and we are finished with this trek. They are from South Jordan, Welby Stake.
The Stake President is president Chappel. there were 450 Youth and Leaders, eleven support vehicles and 9 buses. and 39 handcarts! Very great group.
There was a vehicle that drove into the ranch that saw the handcarts and vehicles at staging ready to leave. They were from France and were driving to Salt Lake. They asked if we were Mormons and what to do at Temple Square. Elder Peart told them to go to the Tabernacle at 8:30 in the morning and they would be able to see the Spoken Word. They said they would. You never know when you will get the opportunity to plant a seed of the gospel.
One thing I want to mention is that each youth had a little packet around his/her neck with their name and a pioneer they were trekking for. in this little packet was the story of that certain pioneer. very clever.
This is the first week during trek that there were no medical incidences. So we are very thankful for that. I am beginning to feel very comfortable with trekking. And each group does things a little different. But all n all, it has been a wonderful experience. Going to miss the missionaries we serve with. The time is going so fast.
Elder Petersen directing this entourage! He does a great job of this.
Elder and Sister Peart. They are 10 years younger than anyone here and walk most of the treks. This trek was a total of 29 miles.
Ingenious way of keeping out the dust!
Ready to head out this morning. They trekked 5 miles in One and a half hours. They were excited to get home and take a shower!
There were 3 companies with this group. and 9 Bishops. Each Bishop had a family he was with. a funny thing- the Stake President interviewed each Bishop while walking with them, Pretty smart of him to have a Personal Priesthood Interview while walking with them on Trek! The youth met Tuesday night and were told what family they would be in. Alot of them had never met the other youth in their families until Tuesday, but by the time they left today, they were great friends.
