Today was the woman's pull. This represents the time in Latter Day Saints history where the men had either died or was off in the Mormon Battalion. This left the woman to pull these handcarts alone. So today the girls pulled these handcarts for 2 miles up a very very steep incline and hill. The boys were sent off first to be at the top of the hill to sing to the girls or help them if they were asked. There were four boys who were called as rescuers. They were never asked to help. The girls were so proud of themselves, but the boys were a little disappointed to not be asked to help. There were many tears. from all of us, to see the girls struggle so hard to make it up that hill. There were many spiritual experiences from this part of the trek. I can't remember a time when i have been so moved as today except maybe when my mother died. The spirit was just so strong today that when the girls finally crested the hill, the boys were singing a beautiful hymn, Then they had a testimony meeting tonight talking about that experience. The Stake Young Woman's president asked all 300 of those youth if during this trek if they had felt the spirit. Every hand went up. That is the reason for the woman's pull. To help the youth in this day and age to recognize the Lord's hand in their lives and to help them know they can do hard things and withstand the temptations that they are faced with in this day and age. I'm posting some movies that Elder Petersen took during this day. I'm very thankful to be able to experience this feeling of the Holy Ghost so strongly today. I know that it has made a difference in the youth and hopefully they will never forget trek 2015.

2nd Day of Trek! 6/11/14
What a fun day! What a great group. We as missionaries, are looking for some youth in every group and we think has been an example to his family. There is this one boy named Grant that has a pink shirt, pink shoes and a bright red scarf. I have picked him to give a wooden handcart as the most improved in the family.
We were rained on very heavily tonight when Richard Benedict (the actor that played Ephraim in the movie Ephraim's Rescue came to speak to this group tonight. What an interesting person he is. It was great to listen to him. He is willing to come to speak next year when our ward comes out here for trek. Here are some photos of the day. I have never laughed so hard nor cried so hard as I have on this mission!
This is Sister Cowan. She is the trek director along with her husband. What a nut!
Elder and Sister Jensen. Such a fun couple to serve with.
This is a devotional from this morning. Very spiritual!
This is a movie right after it poured on us. these kids held out listened to fireside.

First Day of Trek!!!!!!
June 10, 2015
Today was our first day of trek this year. It was an amazing day and i have had so much fun! I have felt the prayers of my children as i texted them all this morning and asked them to pray for us.
Dad walked 5 of the 7 miles today. He did great! Very tired tonight. In fact, he is asleep right now!
I led the support vehicles and didn't get lost! So thankful for that.
I have laughed so hard today at so many things! Wonderful people to work with and the trek support are amazing. We left the group about 7 tonight where they were square dancing in the rain! Will meet them again tomorrow morning and do it all over again. They will finish up on Saturday! Will write more tomorrow!
