Woman's pull/ trek Six

Elder Petersen took some pictures of the Woman's Pull today. I was behind following in the Missionary hot rod.   It's very emotional for these kids. The boys stand on the side and the girls pull the handcarts representing times when the men were in the Mormon Battalion or had died. Many a story about woman crossing the plains alone with their children. When I ask the kids what is the most memorable part of trek, it is always the woman's pull. Here are the pictures for today.

This is Sister Peart. This is just before the woman's pull. Elder Petersen and Elder Peart are leading the boys and support up the hill.

 This is a picture of the boys waiting for the girls to come up the long hill. This woman's pull was about a mile and a half. All up hill.

 First cart to reach the top.  The man at the far left first one in line, is the Stake President. His last name is Chappel and he is related to Roger and Effie Chappel. Small world!

Day Two of Trek Six.

Today was a good day. I can't believe how fast it is going. We are coming into the home stretch.

This was a devotional this morning before they started trekking. Very inspiring. This is President Finch and he talked about getting a personal testimony and what it took for those early pioneers to give up everything for the freedom of religion.

Today is Sherwood's Birthday!  Hope you had alot of fun today.  You look like you are going to be great at tennis, and thanks so much for the card.  Today we started our sixth trek. A group of almost 400. Like I said before, organized chaos. But the weather is not too hot, so that will help. Here are some pictures that we took.

Today some of the cowboys on the ranch came to brand the new calves. Quite the show!
The noise that many cows make when they are pushed etc is deafening. The wild west is still here in Wyoming!!!!  here are some pictures.

This is Torrie, She is from Oklahoma and is out here on an internship. She's been here all summer and is going home Friday. She did alot of branding.

 This is Sister Nordgren taking a picture of me while I was taking a picture of her. The man in the background is named Justin. (Big white Hat) and has a son named Kade. Spelled just like we spelled Kade.

 This is Elder Yates. He is totally enjoying watching this process as he has cattle in Virginia.

P Day! The high country on the ranch. Beautiful!!

July 11,2015

Today we left at 5:30 in the morning to drive up to the high country on the Ranch. So beautiful and you would never know it was there. There is a beautiful lodge with 30 bedrooms for hunter to come in and hunt for Elk. Deer and Moose. It is so big and so impressive. It took us until 1pm to see just that portion of the Ranch. It is so expansive and unless you get a permit to hunt. A very good day, Tomorrow we get ready for trek number 6. A very big group of almost 500. Should be an interesting trek!  Time is going so fast!!

Last day of Trek number 5

 Brother and Sister Fullmer. They were the trail bosses.  This group is from Idaho

     Arrived at Staging by noon. This group has clocked as the fastest group so far at 3.2 miles per hour.

 In order to get down this steep of a hill, we put the strongest trekkers at the back with a rope holding it back.

 This is Addey. She turned 12 the day before coming on trek. She is having alot of fun.

 This is Bishop Excell. He is very good to these youth. Having alot of fun. They got rained on again today.

 Rest stop. I taught them how to play Queen Elephant. had alot of fun. Elder Petersen taught them how to play that game President Boyce taught the boys where you see what kind of reflexes you have.
